Katy Perry Calls Fellow Grammy Nominee Lady Gaga ‘A Reigning Queen’

BEVERLY HILLS, California — Katy Perry is in awe of fellow pop superstar and Grammy nominee Lady Gaga. Perry knows that if anyone is going to leave people buzzing at the water-cooler on Monday morning, it will most likely be the over-the-top New Yorker.
In fact, Perry, who is nominated for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for her song “Hot N Cold,” said that Gaga has really forced everyone to step up their game. “Gaga knows she has it. She’s dethroned everybody,” Perry told MTV News on the red carpet of the Pre-Grammy Gala on Saturday night. “She’s like a reigning queen.”
Perry, who knows what it’s like to be a pop star who marches to the beat of her own drummer, admires how Gaga has her act down. Not only is everyone looking forward to Gaga’s performance on Sunday, but she’s also up for five awards. “Really, I think that she just knew what she was doing, and she’s just playing the game on a totally different level,” Perry said. “And people are now just playing catch-up with her. When I saw her on the AMAs, I was like, whatever. She was just in the Bowie/Prince kind of level.”
